Of Mice and Mold

let's just say leaving falkland chase was one of the happiest days of my life. 1 month before we were to move out we got visiotrs-mice. i guess the influx of mice was do to all of the building going on in downtown (at least this is what management claimed), but it was disgusting none the less. my husband and i killed 4 mice personally, and who knows how many other mice got away. maintenance was slow to respond (several days) and all they did was set traps (something my husband and i had already done). plus, they would not give us a discount on rent for the last month even though we had to live in such gross conditions.

the apartments are small, and the floors creak constantly. the walls are VERY thin. i could hear my neighbor's tv all the time, and i could smell her cigarette smoke. it was disgusting. there is no ventalation in the bathroom, and mold builds up all around the windows. additionally, there is always mold and condensation in the bedroom and kitchen windows. not to mention the fact that the the property is SO old and in need of a face lift. the appliances in the kitchen are from the 1970s. the laundry situation is annoying at best, and there is NEVER parking. we always had to walk from several buildings over to our place. this was VERY inconvenient when you have groceries or on cold nights.

on the plus side, there is a half-way decent free gym. plus, the rent is reasonable for downtown (just ignore the subway train you hear ALL DAY LONG) and it is walking distance to sivler spring metro and the downtown area. the apartment complex has some nice scenic landscape (although a tree fell down in front of my building and damaged 3 cars and 2 apartments) and the community is dog friendly. also, while there i never felt unsafe. it seems to be a quiet place filled with young professionals. if you are a young professional who loves dogs and nature, and doesn't mind -shall we say- the more "rustic" side of living, then this place is for you.
