Overpriced apartments, terrible service

I've lived in many apartments in this area, and my time at Hampton Hollow was probably the worst of them all. First, the good points:
-Never had a parking problem
-Mostly decent neighbors
-Pretty good job with snow removal
That's about it for the good points. The bad points:
-The apartment cost a fortune to heat. I had several winter heating bills in excess of $130 for a very small apartment with the thermostat set at around 71F.
-Sound insulation was terrible. I could hear conversations and tv shows from next door almost well enough to transcribe them. Folks downstairs said they could hear my every footstep, even after I started making an effort to walk lightly.
-A lot of crime takes place in that area. I had one neighbor who had his truck broken into. I had another neighbor whose daughter was held up for her car keys right in front of our building. When the cops recovered the car, it had bullet holes in it. I heard rumors that around the same time as this hold-up (2002), 3 separate apartments had been burglarized in the space of a single month. Yes, there's some kind of police substation right down the road but I don't think it was helping much. Considering the size of the complex, I think there was way too much crime. Ready for the worst of it' Don't expect the management to keep you informed about crime in the complex they manage.
-In my experience, the service personnel were competent. At least some of the people in the office, through whom one has to request service, were not. On more than one occasion I had to ask multiple times for a service person to be sent over before I received any help. Expect to hear lame excuses for the delays.
