I don't know what some of these people are talking about

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2005
I've lived at Hampton Point for three years, and it's been a great experience. I've lived in two different apartments, one with two bedrooms when I had a roommate, and a one bedroom now. My one bedroom, which is the second smallest floorplan, is an adequate size, and the two bedroom was enormous, even cavernous with a vaulted ceiling, so I don't know why people are complaining that the apartments are small. I don't know what they must be expecting.
While it's true that the rental office staff has changed, and it was a change for the worse, the new people are not awful. They're just not as good as Terri. I knew her name. I don't know the names of any of the new people. Perhaps people were just spoiled by Terri and now think the new people are bad in comparison, but they're not bad from an objective point of view.
I also don't know what on earth the person was talking about with new charges. My water bill is still fixed at $10 a month, and I haven't been charged a waste removal fee or whatever that person was talking about. Maybe that person got Hampton Point confused with Hampton Hollow across the street. And my rent only went up by $10 last year, so I don't know why that person thought the rates were going up so much either.
I've only had minimal problems and always feel safe in the neighborhood, which is always clean, thanks to management's aggressive targeting of people who don't clean up after their dogs. There is an idiot who plays soccer in the parking lot at night, and I'm sure he dented my car, but I can't prove it. And parking in my current location can be bad later at night. I've had to park about a block away, but compared with some other places, that's not so bad. In the other apartment I lived in, there was always plenty of free parking, so I guess it depends on which part of the complex you live in.
The rent is not bad either, especially compared with other place in the Silver Spring area. It's distant from Silver Spring proper, so if you work in downtown Silver Spring or downtown DC (like me) it's quite a trek on a busy road to get to work. An express bus to the metro station conveniently stops at a park and ride adjacent to Hampton Point, but the express bus still takes a half hour to 45 minutes to get to the metro station depending on traffic and weather conditions. I've been wanting to move closer in for a few years, but I just can't find a place that is a better deal than Hampton Point, so I compromise and have a long commute. Places closer in either cost more for less apartment or are unsafe rat holes. So I'm stuck at HP for now, but it's not a bad place to be stuck.
