Lower your expectations and its fine

I have been here for about 6 months and so far its fine. I haven't had any major problems. Its neither the absolute worst nor the absolute best apartment community that I have lived in. Like most things, its somewhere in between. My chief complaints are that my apartment is incredibly small, 500 sq ft for over $900 monthly seems a bit pricey to me but it seems to be reasonable for this area. The walls are kind of thin. I can hear my neighbor showering in the morning. I haven't had any management issues, although the office hours are 9-5 so if you need to pick up a package and you work for a living (like most of us) you can only pick up your packages on the weekend. Parking is pretty good, I generally do not have a problem finding a space close to my apartment even if I arrive really late. Another reviewer commented on the small parking spaces. This has not been a problem for me and I drive a SUV. The community is generally pretty quiet but there is a police station nearby, so there is the occasional siren. The maintenance and gardening staff do a good job of keeping the grounds looking nice. When I have had to call maintenance to fix something (not often) they respond promptly. If you work in DC, you should know that you have to take a bus to the Silver Spring Metro and it takes about 35 minutes depending on when you leave. Also, electric bills in the winter are pretty high. As I said, my apt is only 500 sq ft and my electric bill was $100 every month. This is with me turning the heat off everyday when I leave for work. Overall, its fine. If you want luxury living, this is probably not the place for you but if you want quiet, clean and affordable, try it.
