I've lived here for the past 2.5 yrs and have generally been very satisfied with Hampton Point. But in trying to simplify my life, I've discovered how inconvenient the location is for someone who gives up their car.

I have a top floor place, and I love the high ceilings and the unit I have has an interesting lay-out. The kitchen is tiny, but everything works. I've always found the office staff to be friendly and helpful.

Maintenence is another issue. There have been problems with not sanding/de-icing following snow and ice. I am still recovering from a sprained ankle from ice, and at least 2 of my neighbors fell on the stairs last winter. When they painted buildings last year, the contractors didn't put window screens back on properly, and so I've been without open windows in my bdr ever since because new screens never appear, despite requests. Insulation is not good-- in winter my door will blow open if it isn't locked, and there's always a breeze around the door in winter. If newer and more efficient heating & a/c could be installed, it would help bring down everyone's costs and usage.

That said, this is a community where you get to know some of your neighbors, especially if you have a dog. The noise has never been a problem since I've lived here, and I've only witnessed one drug deal on the north side of the community.

The commute is simply too long, and I need a place nearer to shopping. Otherwise, I've really liked living here!

i am thinking about moving there and i work in DC. I do have a car though. Is the commute down 29 bad? Is your electric bill a resonable price? 30-50 50-75 75-100? Is these anything else i should know about the community. How is the bus system?
