Moving but enjoyed my stay here!

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2008
I've lived at Hampton Point Apartments for about 3 years now. When I first moved in, I rented a 540 sq. ft. 1bd/1ba on the second floor (vaulted ceiling, no fireplace). Though the apartment was small, the vaulted ceiling in the living room made it feel much larger than it was. After a year, I moved into a 660 sq. ft 1bd/ba on the first floor (with fireplace).
Here are the positive aspects of living at Hampton Point:
1) The community is dog-friendly (I have a small dog, but it takes large dogs as well) and there's lots of green space for the pooches.
2) In general, everyone is friendly and respectful.
3) It is a well-kept, quiet community.
4) The office staff is great, especially Michael. They even know their tenants by name - a rarity.
5) The maintenance staff is also great. Very friendly and respond to work tickets promptly.
6) A bus stop is right across the street. There's an Express bus to the Silver Spring metro.
7) There is also a community center with a gym across the street - fees are reasonable.
8) Police and fire stations are just down the street.
9) Grocery store, gas station, convenience stores, park, etc. all very close.
10) Every apartment has a washer and dryer.
Here are the negative aspects of living at Hampton Point Apartments:
1) The rent is a bit high for square footage and no fitness center or tennis courts (compared to three other nearby complexes).
2) The insulation in the apartments is quite poor. Everything is electric in the apartments, so be prepared to use throw blankets in the winter and fans in the summer if you want a reasonable electric bill.
3) I have a first floor apartment where the outside stairs to the second floor are connected to my living room wall. Regardless of the person walking up the stairs and how light they may be on their feet, they all sound like elephants. I've gotten used to it, not a big deal. Just be forewarned.
4) It's a dog-friendly community, which is great, but it would be much better if everyone cleaned up after their dog. I have a dog too, but manage to curb him.
5) The appliances are a bit old and therefore not incredibly energy efficient. (But they work, and if they stop working, they get replaced.
Overall, I have been very pleased living at Hampton Point. The rent, while higher than I'd like, is about on par with nearby communities. You really can't beat the staff or general care of the community. As a young professional, I'd certainly recommend Hampton Point Apartments to others.
