Last night I happened to go downstairs and my roommate was muttering"Nasty"to herself. I asked what's the matter and she said this Hispanic guy next door was peeing right in front of our door (at the top of the steps)! They had been drinking and I opened the door and told them that they would have to wash it off or I would call the police. The one guy that spoke English had the nerve to say "Go,call the police". This in addition to loud obnoxious music played on either side of my apartment, roaches and possibly a rat in the kitchen, are part of what makes living in Northwest Park similar to life in a Third World country. Then again, when I lived in a third world country they never harassed me like these hombres do. When I first moved here in 2002,I got a notice taped to the door from the District Court of Maryland listing the names of AT LEAST nine people, all Hispanic, who were wanted for some reason(possibly non-payment of rent),and I'm sure they were all illegals. The management here is pretty lax,so 9 people in one 3 bedroom isn't unthinkable. People get mugged just waiting for the bus on Northampton Drive and Avenel Road. An MS-13 gang member's body was found in the trash enclosure in the 700 block of Northampton Drive 2 or 3 years ago. I never venture out late at night in this complex. I read the local newspaper's crime section just to see if my street makes the news. They really can't justify the yearly increase in our rent. They can renovate the exterior all the want, but for crying out loudI have an uncivilized male peeing at my front door! You can try to create a facade of civility, but it's really the kind of people-illegal aliens, thugs and gang members that make Northwest Park a lousy choice for a home. I'll be glad to get out of here when I can.

maybe your comments are justified by bad living conditions, but some of the things you say are racially biased. Please be careful in your choice of words next time. besides, this area has become very diverse, which is a blessing and a difficulty at the same time. if you want to live in a "civilized" neighborhood without 'thugs" or "illegals"(as you so eloquently put it), go live somewhere in the sticks. Like damascus or poolesville. Good luck, amigo!

Mentioning the fact that the offenders were Hispanic is tantamount to being racially biased? I will not sacrifice the truth at the stinkin' altar of political incorrectness. Besides,it's awfully hard to think of myself as racially biased if I've had a Hispanic boyfriend, patronize Latino businesses and aren't afraid of being in Langley Park after dark. The greater racial bias is UNSPOKEN. Have you heard of "White Flight"? That's as racist as it gets, and I assure you these people who take part in it are politically correct to a fault. I take public transportation and SEE how white(yes,I will be blunt)shun certain routes where riders are predominantly --------- and Africans/------. I ride alongside these people every day. I observe the unspoken racism here in this "diverse" county, and I have brown skin too,so I'm the LAST person you can accuse of being "racially biased". p.s. I would love to move to the country--not to avoid "thugs" and "illegals" but so that I can have my desired pets in my backyard. |
