Get ready for roaches!

I lived in this community for a year and, to be frank, I hated every minute of it. The only thing going for it was the price, which as $650 for a 1-bedroom (all utils included) is not bad at all.

My major complaint (I'm sure you can guess) was that the roach problem was absolutely unbearable. I was told when I applied that they had no pest problem to speak of, and that any bugs were the fault of the residents. Fair enough, right' Well, on the day that I moved in, I unlocked the door to my apartment for the first time, and was met with an entire generation of cockroaches strutting around like they owned the place. (They did, as it turns out.)

In the year that I lived there, I was never able to get rid of them, despite me having the exterminator in on an almost monthly basis. To be fair, the management was very responsive to my requests, but never quite believed that it wasn't my fault. I never ate nor cooked in the apartment (the kitchen was too small to do anything with) and I tried every roach repellant I could find. They were in the cupboards, in the closets, even in the medicine cabinet in the bathroom. Unless you have a particular affinity for these creatures, steer clear of this place!

I should also point out that upon first walking into my new apartment, I found trash littered around the floor and dirt in the bathtub. When I went to the management office to ask that someone come clean it up, I was told that the cleaning crew was insulted that I questioned their work. !!

Aside from all that, the neighbors are quite friendly, but the walls were paper thin. I actually was lulled to sleep each night by the guy's snoring in the apartment downstairs! Parking was decent unless you came home late, but you had to have in-state plates to get a tag, which meant I had to park elsewhere in the neighborhood for a while. And forget about it when you had friends over. The laundry machines were far from reliable, and if you didn't have the luck of having one in your building, you had to walk outside.

Overall, the buildings are dark, poorly maintained, and unclean. All this combined with a pretty lame location made this place intolerable to me, and no bargain even for the price.
