Some good, some bad

I've lived here for over a year... there are some positives, including spacious apartments, large closets, and convenience to bus stops. Also, I love having access to the pool, though it is a bit shady (trees, not people) for me. Utilities included were a big incentive for me when I moved in; however, they recently changed thermostats to only heat or cool units to a certain temperature. Though good in theory, winters are now very cold and summers are only slightly cooler than the outside (and still somewhat humid). They may lose me on this point. Also, I have had major issues with roaches since living here. Apparently my neighbor was infested and though management was spraying their apartment, they never thought that the creatures might migrate to my clean apartment. Yuck! But management is pretty good about spraying upon request, but be prepared for some unwanted guests. The building is somewhat shabby and old, and the bathrooms are hideous (pepto bismal pink). Though it was a good move for me, I will soon be looking to move on. However, maybe if they let me control my own thermostat again, I could not resist staying a bit longer...

| Thank you for this post! We have sent out a memo to all the residents to see if others are still having problems. We do have new digital thermostats that are both more accurate and some what limiting. We put them in as part of our efforts to fight global warming. We have given out compact fluorescent bulbs, added roof insulation and have expanded our recycling to include a FreeCycle store in the main laundry room, among other steps. Unfortunately we have had some problems with the now accurate temperature at the thermostat not being comfortable in another room. If a tenant is uncomfortable we are happy to adjust the limits so they are within the tenants' comfort level (we have done this for several other tenants). We invite the poster of this message to contact the office so we can make the temperature in your apartment more enjoyable! We work very hard to control roaches. In addition to having an exterminator come out regularly to treat any problems, we do preventive treatments of all apartments just in case with a safe bait system. Most of our staff and management live in our 2 buildings so we experience what you do. We hate roaches too! When we are aware of a problem we try to get to the bottom of it. In fact we have asked folks to move who can???t keep their apartments clean enough (not the poster perhaps a neighbor). If the poster would please contact us we will diligently work to correct the problem. | |

In the winter put ice packs or a bag of frozen vegies on the thermostat. I have had no problem keeping things cool in the summer so maybe I don't get as hot as you.
