When I first moved in in 2007, sight unseen from MO, I heard from another resident that this was "SE's best kept secret." Well, that's true (and a bit false)...we're actually in Maryland, right next to (a beautiful part of!) Southeast Washington, DC, and we're not a secret anymore because I keep telling all of my teacher friends about it!!!

It is an older building, so if you're looking for granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances, you need to keep looking. BUT, if you are looking for a safe, well-kempt building with a professional staff and friendly neighbors--MH is for you :) I LOVE that I can pay less than 1000 for a 700 sq. ft. apartment, utilities included, and still be close to my new job on The Hill, 495, 395, 295 and the BW parkway--you kind of can't beat it!

I am a single woman looking for an apartment...I notice you said you pay less than $1000....did you move in on a special? I looked at the apt's sat. and they are a little more than that...also...is there always someone in the security booth? Thanks :o)

Someone's not always in the booth, and residents are happy to hold any of the doors open for strangers. Coming from NYC, I find that ridiculous and counter-productive to the security measures, but I can also say I love MH. The building, lobby, grounds, laundry rooms, etc. are indeed well-kept. The staff is courteous and quick to respond to needs. The rent is quite reasonable for all that you get. Also, there are events planned for the residents regularly by staff. I admit in the 7 months I've resided there that I have not attended any of the events due to my busy schedule, but it's nice to know that we are considered. I knew of MH from a friend that had lived there previously for 11 years. It wasn't the best during his initial years, but eventually improved a few years before his departure. I love it and would recommend it highly to any considering a move.
