We are a young white couple (definitely the minority) who moved from upstate NY for a job in DC and thought that the location to the metro and the price were perfect for us, that was the end of perfection. We have made our home nice however no aspect of it is respected. Roaches truly are present,no matter how often I wash the counters and clean the floors, we sprayed ourselves and it has seemed to help. Mice I choose not to know about.. but we do get the dreaded "watch where you put your trash letter."
Walls and windows'' We might as well not have any. I lived by myself for the first month and was scared half to death thinking a man was in my apartment when in actuality he was living next door. The unbelievable fights, unnecessarily loud music blasting from the street below, the pounding feet of children running up and down the hall are just some of the noises you will wake up to at any given hour.
As for a shower.. hit or miss, the water never stays at a consistent temperature and has shut off on me ENTIRELY several times mid shower! During a recent storm I was awoken at 4am to a waterfall coming in through the windows of the bedroom and living room, soaking the carpet, and ruining the paint on the walls. The staff said they would clean the carpets(didn't happen), re-painted but that was useless because the next storm ruined it again since they merely caulked the windows and didn't fix what was broken as the repair man recommended.
Laundry costs a fortune.
OOO yes the day we moved in a young man solicited marajuana to my father in the elevator! My father is a cop, thankfully when the kid asked if he was he said no because that would have put a target on our backs. If you go to the laundry room be prepared for the infamous contact buzz or to run and hold your breath. Let's see what else.. the fitness center has been under renovation since April. The pool is never clean except for the beginning of the summer, that does not include the wading pool which is scum filled and attracting mosquitoes.
All of this we were willing to suffer through because well.. we're poor. We are generally tolerant people, most neighbors were polite and the leasing staff and billy were approachable and seemingly ready to assist when an issue came up....
HOWEVER!!!!
last week while we were away for work my bf's car was stolen out of our parking lot, which is directly in front of the leasing office, window smashed, steering column cracked, engined ruined and crashed. The idiots that stole it and were arrested came back less than a week later and attempted to steal another one and we had them arrested AGAIN! Did I mention the broken glass was still in the lot 5 days later'!
All in all FIND SOME WAY, get a roommate, sacrifice the privacy for safety and peace of mind! g-hKOS7s4Nq5n3hEIpHd

Some of you have mentioned not meeting the new manager you should stop pass the office i mean i see her out and about just about everyday unlike the last manager if you go into the office she will take time to talk to you and not leave you sitting in the outer office for an hour and once again i do agree Kay Management needs to put more money into Top Of the Hill but the last I checked the Manager dosent write the checks maybe we need to start sending Mr.Kay letters and tell him give Ms. Carey more money for Top Of The Hill oh i called the office about the drug dealers you were talking about in 3200 and have been told that one family identify as the problem was given a notice to move and are now gone if you know of any others you should call the office I dont live in that building but i called out some people in my building and its my understanding that have to be out by September 31st So again I am reserving any negative opionion about the current staff and allowing them to show us this excellence in customer they are talking about so go to the office and meet the manager if you havent.

Responding to 09/01/09 - thank you very much for that report!! This is what I like to hear and as I have always said, tenants need to do their part in keeping our community clean and safe too!! For instance, please STOP throwing your junk mail on the floor of the mail room, the TRASH CAN IS IN PLAIN SIGHT, and stop throwing your trash out of your car windows while you are parked on the lot - that is just plain nasty and ghetto!! As for those BIG BUSSES and Huge trucks on the lots, please park those huge tanks near the fences and give the little cars enough room to park!!
