Absolutely Terrible!

We're the people from across the hall with the air conditioner drip tray problem (read the review from ladyluck), and yes, it really is that bad. Our walk-in closet ceiling caved in twice in two years, soaking and ruining everything that was in it. Turns out the drip pan for the air conditioner (which is partly in the ceiling!) had rusted through because of a blocked drainage hose that leaked into it constantly. The second time this happened, we had to call a county building inspector to get everything fixed properly -- and that took nine visits from maintenance over 30 days. We even contacted a lawyer just in case everything didn't get fixed. It was a shame we couldn't sue, because we'd have taken them for all they were worth! They even cited us for "poor housekeeping" because one of the maintenance men and a property manager came into our apartment one day to a huge mess -- which consisted of all the things we'd had to yank out of the closet when the ceiling collapsed that ended up choking our living space. Can you believe that'!'

Here's the short list of our other problems: Heat that doesn't turn off till it's ten degrees warmer than the thermostat. Drafty, poorly insulated windows. Windows that refuse to open or open cockeyed. Drafty front door. Ceiling cracking at the wall joints. A dishwasher that doesn't really wash dishes. An exhaust fan in the bathroom that collects moisture and then drips after a shower. Shoddy caulking in the tub that has turned black and will probably be blamed on us.

In addition, we heard from our downstairs neighbors that when they moved in, their refrigerator had a large hole rusted through it, and -- GET THIS -- there was BLOOD on the walls from someone who cut his hands installing carpeting. And this couple was expecting their first child!

Oh yeah, and we can't forget the time the police, detectives, and the county medical examiner showed up one afternoon and removed a body from an apartment down the street. We never found out what happened because management obviously gave employees strict instructions to keep it very hush-hush. But the detectives sure poked around that apartment for a loooong time, examining everything over and over and taking notes.

As for customer service, forget it. Some people are nice, some are rude, and some are in between, but it does take a fair amount of time to get any kind of decent response. When the automatic firing mechanism on the building's water heater malfunctioned (which is why the hot water was sometimes unavailable), the maintenance men just came, pressed the reset button, and said there, it's fixed. Give me a break! That took MONTHS to properly fix.

I definitely wouldn't recommend this apartment community to anyone, nor would I recommend any of Hendersen-Webb's other communities. Buyer beware! You get what you pay for. These are the cheapest apartments in the Timonium/Cockeysville area, and it shows! We're moving in April when our lease is up. Good riddance!!!

I lived in Henderson and Web apartments in the early 90's. Barretts Delight and I was robbed by the maintence people. They came in the apartment on a Wed to change the filter in the furnace. We were not home when they came in. Aparently they looked around the apt,saw some things they liked and came back on Friday. Took my last trash bagged filled it with my jewelry, my huge bucket of change, and took $1500.00 in cash. I just moved in the area and had not opened my checking account yet. How nice for them. The police came and said who ever entered the apt had a key, there was no forced entry. They knew exactly what they wanted and where it was and was probably in the apt for approximately 5 minutes. No one had a key to my apt. It was very hard to prove. My friend lived in the next building and was moving out. Again Maintence serviced their furance on a Wed and came back on Friday. The day my friend was moving out (FRIDAY). She had everything unhooked VCR, TV, stero etc... She went out to grab some food came back and everything was gone. She was gone all of 2o minutes. We could not prove it, and the Henderson and Webb people didn't care they just wanted to make sure we paid our rent. I would never move into another apt owned by Henderson and Webb. The apt itself was ok, the heater and air conditioner went up all the time.
The neighbors were not that great either.
