I was drawn to Reflection Knoll (Whispering Hills) apartments because of the cheap rent. I will have to say that one of the upsides to the place is that you can get a one bedroom apartment for a good price, which is really rare around here. I really liked the layout of the apartments and thought that they were cozy and comfortable. With that said, the apartments are OLD, and it shows. My kitchen has a newer fridge, but that is it. Things don't always work properly (you have to pull hard on the shower knob to turn the water on, the hot/cold water doesn't work in the kitchen sink, caulking is coming apart from the ceiling, and the windows are hard to open and some of the screens are broken) but these things are livable. My dishwasher has never worked. I tried using it 3 times and then just gave up on it. I could call maintenance, but that is where the problems start.

Maintenance is a joke, for the most part. When I first moved in, a few things were broken. The biggest thing was that my fridge was leaking. I had to call maintenance FOUR times before someone came out to fix the problem, only they didn't fix it right away. They left and didn't come back until I called AGAIN, and at that time customer service told me that someone wrote in that it was fixed when it wasn't. Someone did come out and fix it soon after that. Another problem I had was that my mailbox key did not work. Again, that took several calls to get that problem fixed. I also called about my dishwasher, someone came out and looked at it, and never returned. At that point I gave up on the dishwasher. A few months later, my mailbox broke. The hinge was broken and the door was hanging off. I came home from work one day and someone sat a new lock on the inside. Well, obviously, the problem is not with the lock. After that, I never heard anything else from maintenance and I just had my Dad fix it, he said that it was an easy fix and there was no reason why maintenance couldn't have figured it out. Actually, I had my Dad fix a bunch of stuff in the apartment, since I knew maintenance would never get around to doing it. The ONE AND ONLY time that maintenance actually did a good job was when my hot water shut off one day. They came out and fixed the problem right away, and were very nice, which I appreciated.

The next problem that I had is a huge one and it is causing me to not renew my lease when it is up in July. The walls and the floors are paper thin. You can hear just about EVERYTHING from other apartments around you. I was having a big problem with my downstairs neighbor playing music so loud I could hear it word for word in my apartment, slamming doors and cabinets and stomping all over the place. It got to the point where it sounded like they were moving furniture around every day. I got woken up super early everyday by this person and the noise continued into the night when I was trying to go to bed. In addition to that, I also have neighbors on my floor that are huge partiers and I have been subjected to loud music, drunken/drugged up people laying out in the hallway, fighting, and used condoms lying on the steps. Also, the doors to all of the apartments are poorly hinged, so pretty much everyone lets their doors SLAM behind them when going in and out, some so bad that it shakes the entire building. Not so pleasant when you are sitting in your living room and some idiot lets their door go like that. Doesn't matter what time of day. People have no courtesy. And it scares the crap out of you.

Oh, and about the noisy neighbors, forget about complaining. This was another situation which required me to call customer service a ridiculous amount of times. It took me several weeks and calls to get a letter sent out to my neighbor with the music. I even had to speak to management several times. I kept getting excuses like they lost my letter, never received it, etc. which was a bunch of b.s. Everyone I talked to seemed to be very helpful and pleasant but when it came down to it, the follow through was completely unacceptable. After I finally got a letter saying that the neighbor was informed of the complaint, a few weeks later, there was suspiciously a letter in the mail saying that someone filed a noise complaint against me. Hmm. So I called customer service, because obviously this was a retaliation move. They explained to me that I needed to write a dispute letter, which I did right away. I even stayed on the phone with the rep to make sure that my fax went through, which it did, 3 times. I was told that I would receive a letter soon that a note would be put on my account so that I would be cleared of the false allegations. That was a month ago. I never heard anything back. I am upset that Henderson-Webb allowed the person I complained against initially to take the upper hand. And forget about asking people to quiet down yourself. Reflection Knoll is not very choosy about who they rent to. People take serious offense to any requests simply respect other people. Beware of your neighbors.

Overall, I was disappointed with Reflection Knoll. Not really the surroundings- it seemed like a safe neighborhood, had a lot of things to do around, and like I said, the apartments are cozy...but the way that Henderson-Webb treats their tenants and the way that the neighbors are is enough to make me leave here for good. If you think that you can handle the noise and what may or may not be small maintenance issues, this might be a good place. But think twice about what you might be dealing with when you sign that lease. I wish I had.

I had the very same experience! The area is nice, safe, and good location but the apartments walls are paper thin....and yes, OLD. I hate when weekends come, cause the neighbors come out of the woodwork. I can hear furniture being thrown, some guy next door swares and beats up on his girlfiend. I faxed 3 letters to Customer Service about the guy, and have only gotten 1 reply stating they sent him a copy of the lease which says to keep the noise down. Has that done any good? No! If it werent for the neighbors, I'd stay. I hear the guy upstairs from me cough every morning. Loud music. No one respects others in the building. Ug! Reflection Knoll isnt choosey at all who they put in these apartments. If you like lots of noise...this is the place for you. I highly suggest another place to live. Check further down the street...away from Henderson Webb.

I agree that maintenance is pretty lousy. When my girlfriend and I lived there, we had an old fridge and we called several times with the same or similar problems. It leaked and the temperature got much warmer than it should have. Each time we called, someone came with a BS excuse and a "solution" but it was never really fixed. I think we called 4 or 5 times about it then gave up. We were planning to move anyways. Its been awhile since we lived there but we had to call maintenance 2 other times and with each call, it took hours, if not days, to respond.
