I liked living here in the past, I really did. I am a college student, and now I am just waiting to graduate so I can get out.
The staff here has cleaned house three times in the time I've lived here. Each new "team" is worse than the last. They lost my paperwork twice, and got rude with me for questioning them. They tell me different information each time I ask the same question. If you have a serious question get the answer in writing with a signature and date. The maintenance team is SLOW.. but will eventually do the job. I had to wait months for something I probably could have gone to Home Depot and done myself, but it is not my job.
They decided to wait until January to start replacing all windows and glass doors in the apartments. Today it is snowing and I can see the contractors pulling out some poor resident's windows. Not only did they do this on one of the coldest days of the month, but they made a huge mess in my apartment. There is splintered wood, huge marks on my white walls, and the new windows are worse than what I originally had. I can press on them and they will bend with little to no pressure. Your BGE bills will be high, or you can tough it out and wear lots of layers. The temperature is always fifteen to twenty degrees lower than what the heat is set at. My AC over the summer was broken, it took them a month to fix it. They said it was the filter, but the AC was off and still running and cost a fortune in electric.
My rent was raised higher than the year previously, I was not informed of any raise until I went to sign the lease. In the past I was sent a letter. I got no such notification this year. Like I said, the paperwork was lost twice during this process. It was a nightmare dealing with the leasing office. Also, in the past I was given an incentive for re-signing. I was lied to this year about it. I have not received any incentive.
The walkways are dark at night, and sometimes kids will break the fixtures. It will take months to get the bulbs replaced.
My apartment was broken into over the summer by some drunk kids, they broke the latch off my sliding glass door and the bar was broken which is why it was not up. The Colony did nothing to fix this until this winter when they replaced the window. The new bar does not even reach to where the window is, it is held up by a loose piece of plastic.
Also, apparently the maintenance team has lost their master key because in order to have them come into the apartment to do work, you will need to actually be there to let them in. In the past I have had maintenance in the apartment unannounced, so I know in the past there was a key.
All in all, this was a decent off-campus housing apartment community for me as a college student, and truthfully I do not have high standards because it is mostly students that live here. But, I can tell you that I have worked for a property management company at the corporate level (A competitor of AIMCO - the company that runs this place) and I know how things work and should work at an apartment cmmunity. This place is completely mismanaged and a nightmare to deal with. Like I said, as soon as I am done with my degree I am out.

What amazes me is all of the negative things that you are saying, but then at the end you say that you work for a property management company and you know how things are supposed to be run at an apartment complex. Okay so if you have worked for their competitor why aren't you living at their competitors apartments because as an employee of the company, don't they normally get discounts? So, you have worked at the corporate level of property manangement right, then you would also know that when contracts get signed and money changes hands that yes work begins.....that might explain why the windows didn't start going in until the fall/winter months. They actually started in October, mine were put in on Halloween to be exact. I too have issues with the property but my way of thinking is this, if I don't tell anyone about it and keep telling someone about it how is it going to get fixed? There are so many complaints on here but I'm also noticing that no one is saying that they have called and called and called and called until it was taken care of to their liking. Get over it....9 out of 10 apartment is rented by a college student whos mommy and daddy pay their rent. Therefore they don't care about what is happening to their apartment!!!!!
