Not nearly as bad as these reviews make it out to be

The first time I drove down Kenilworth Drive I went right past the Colony because I'd read such terrible reviews on this website. On my way back, I decided just to stop by the office and get a price estimate because I really liked the area and the only other 1BRs I could find were out of my price range. Well, I went into the office and the very friendly/helpful receptionist quoted me a reasonable price. I was wary, but I decided to view a unit. The apartment that I was shown had new carpeting, it seemed nice enough, and though I was on the lookout for bugs/mice/droppings, etc...there were none to be found.
I signed the lease hoping it wasn't too good to be true. I've been here for 2 months now, and I haven't had one major problem. It's not luxury, but it's certainly nice enough and I've been very happy here.
The buildings are older and I can hear the floorboards creak when the tenant above me walks around, but it's not too much of a disturbance. My appliances are a few years old, but they work great. My apartment came squeaky clean, and I haven't had any trouble with bugs/mice/critters, etc. I had to call maintenance one time, and the issue was resolved the same day. I have my own parking spot, and it's right in front of my front door. I feel completely safe here. And it's affordable...so I really got everything I was looking for and a bit more.
The only real complaint I have is that there are some loud/irresponsible undergrads living here that occasionally keep me up on a Friday or Saturday night. I was a college student just two years ago, and I participated in my fair share of Friday and Saturday night shenanigans...but these kids really need to take the party to a bar or something. It's disrespectful to assume that just because they are up and ready to party means that everyone in the complex should be awake. I am awake at 5 AM every morning, but I don't think they'd appreciate it if I walked outside and started screaming down the parking lot. Weeknights are quiet, but as someone who works 15-16 hours per day, the weekends are really the ONLY time that I get to go to bed early and sleep in. This is not a problem every weekend, but often enough to be an annoyance.
This one issue aside, the Colony has been pretty close to perfect for me. Overall, I am very happy here and glad I did not pass up the opportunity because of the comments on this website. I am sure the Colony is not for everyone, but it's definitely worth a stop by the office and a viewing if you are looking for a reasonably priced apartment in a safe area.

The noisey college kids would have been a deal breaker for me. Also, wait until someone parks in your spot and there is nothing you can do about it. It is just a matter of time.
