Great Neighbors, Bad Management

We have great neighbors, the grounds are nice, the location is convenient to shopping, I haven't had any rats or roaches, and the apartments are large. Those are the only good things I have to say about this place.
I read the previous comment about people not giving their names. It's not tremendous shock that people want to remain anonymous. Speaking only for myself, when my lease is up I will move and I may need a reference. If these reviews are read by the management (I realize the chances are slim), I may not get that reference despite having been a good tenant. The management here is just that bad.
As far as security is concerned, I know of one break in, one robbery, and one stolen car in the last 6 months. I guess some people think that's pretty good and others think that's unsafe.
I agree with most of the other negative comments that reviewers have made, although I don't take some of them as seriously as they appear to.
The floors are extremely creaky and I can hear my neighbors most of the time, but that is the nature of old buildings. I don't think much can be done about that.
There are an inordinate amount of problems with the water. It gets shut off about once a month because of leaks, floods, and broken pipes. I haven't had any leaks in my apartment but I know people who have. But the pipes are old and I'm sure they are replacing them with new ones when the old ones break. Not everything can be replaced at once.
I am in complete agreement with the comments about the laundry rooms. They are really bad. I figured it was just my building, but I guess not. I don't really mind the laundry mat though. It's only a mile away and it's very clean.
The halls used to be really dirty but me and a few other people in the building just decided that if the management wasn't going to keep the place clean, we would. We trade off and it doesn't take that long.
I agree that the way they fix stuff is pretty low quality, but I have a friend who is handy and he helps me fix things so that I don't have to call the office.
I checked out a couple of other complexes in the area and I can do a lot better for the money, and I will as soon as my lease is up. But in the meantime, I try to make the best of it.
