New Managment, Needs improvement
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 5/27/2004
Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
This complex is under new management. I felt that the staff was rude in some instances but toward the end of my stay started getting better.
As with any new facility there were many bumps in the road. Air Conditioning was suppost to be installed by May 2003 and was not installed until Dec 2003. We were told it would take 1 day to install central air and it took two weeks. Mis-information. We were also told that they would accomadate us with window air units, but when the time came, we had to buy our own.
Interior is newly renovated and very nice. Appliances all new. There was a lack of attention to detail though. I think this really sums up the experience here. Parts of the apartment were not painted well. Paint badly peeled in some areas. The grounds were not kept very well. Pay attention to the landscaping in the front of the complex (view from the street) compared with the landscaping in the back parts (not viewable from the street). Looks alot better from the street. Snow removal was also terrible. If they plowed at all, it was only one or two times per snow, and it was only one pass with the snow remover, making walking to the parking lot very very dangerous (This was done better near the streets, but were you can't see from the streets it was worse).
When it rains, the grounds get very very muddy. Maintenance/grounds crew/residents often drive up to apartments to unload and make this much worse. This was a huge irritation, ruined many pairs of shoes and I even slipped twice and fell in the mud on the way to work.
At times this complex can be a little unsafe feeling. The grounds, at night, are not well lit, and the laundry facilities are also quite scary. We had an armed robery across from our front door soon after arriving and recommended to management that they install simple code locks on the front doors or key locks, with no action taken. (some of the buildings have locked front doors, but these are only for Goucher Students) They need to put those locks thoughout the complex.
The location is great and if you're a student or a metro-minded individual, this is a good place to live. Assuming that you can live with the lack of attention to detail and the lack of storage space. uWDgQKY3Vkv8FKIsB8Ax
