Moved here in the begining of the summer and we love it. The rooms are so big and the closets are too. I figured I would put down pros and cons to be fair.
Pros:
Huge bedrooms
Large Closets
Wall to Wall windows in every room with thick curtains
Large living room (we have a very large sectional sofa with room to spare)
Great view, we can see the Inner Harbor at night (If you live on one of the higher floors)
New carpeting, Kitchen (everything, even the cabinets and appliances), and bathroom sink area
Our apartment is virtually sound proof. We have never heard our neighbors except when the new ones were moving in next door.
The laundry facilities are located on the 2nd floor. There are about 13 or 14 washers and about a dozen or so dryers. So there is almost always a few free.
Its very quiet. Not that many people have little kids. Most everyone is elderly or a college grad student.
Water is included in the rent as is gas. But I'm not sure what uses gas in our apartment.
They have a big garage that you have to use a key card to get into. Its full most work days but everyone leaves at 5 on the dot.
There are security gards all the time 24 hours a day 7 days a week. They are all very nice and do partols in the building and garage.
The front desk people are soooo nice. They know just about everyones names and will always say hello to you even if they dont.
Visiters have to sign in at the front desk unless they are with you and you have the option for the front desk to call you when you get a visiter first before they come up.
they have a heated pool.
some people have balconies (We dont :-( .)
The trash drop offs are on every floor. You just put your trash down the shoot and its taken care of. And if you have large items that cant fit, you just leave them outside the door and every day someone will come and pick them up.
There are lots of little things that make hampton plaza great.
Cons:
Electricity is not included in the rent and can get very high if you leave your a/c or heat on.
I've heard some people say their windows have leaked during the tropical strom remnants, but we have never had this problem.
Sometimes the apartment complexe will turn off the water or electricity. They do give you calls and put up signs, but it can get very annoying after a few times. They try to do all the work during the work day so that it affects a few people as possible, and it never takes more then a few hours for the water to come back on. Sometimes you have to let the water run a min or two afterwards before it is clear after they turn off the water.
Even though the walls are virtually sound proof the a\c units let in alot of noise from the street. We just turn on the fan to cancel it out. Works well enough.
No one cleaned our bathroom before we moved in so that was kinda gross. But every other room was spotless.
You have to put down a pet deposit for animals (Its not much just 100) and they only let you have cats. No puppies :-(
All the cons are small things that you kinda get over because the pros are so great. I LOVE it here and am so glad I moved from Donnybrook. That place was horrid. Hampton Plaza Apartments are for people that like peace and quiet. Dont expect to throw parties in your apartment every weekend.

I moved in at the end of the summer and have found that so far Hampton Plaza fits the pros in this review and a few of the cons too. The overall atmosphere here is marked by refinement in taste and manners, in other words, genteel.
