Not too bad

I moved into Largo Center Apartments this past summer(2006). Compared to the price that you pay for other apartments in the area, Largo isn't too bad. I have read the complaints from other residents who have lived in this complex. I have to truthfully say, that they are ALL correct in their observations of the apartments. There are two buildings in the complex: A building and B building. "A" building has the 1 & 2 bedroom units while "B" building has the 2 & 3 bedroom units. "B" building is where you'll find your larger families. It is also where you'll find the higher noise level and kids hanging out (unsupervised) & loitering in the hallways and stairwells.
You will undoubtedly hear loud noises once in a while and depending on what floor you live on - you'll hear them on a consistent basis. The walls are thin, but I think the floors are thinner. A mid-size to over-weight person can leisurely walk in his/her apartment and it will sound like thunder to the residents underneath them. Besides the natural noises in the apartments, Largo Center Apartments is not your ideal of serenity. You will hear kids run up and down the halls and you will have to deal with residents who don't know how to talk in a normal tone, or who feel that their arguments and disputes need to be heard by every one in the complex.
As far as management goes, I think that they are doing a fair job, but I also feel that they are overwhelmed. They run another apartment complex and therefore they are pulled between the two. I don't have any complaints about maintenance.
During the ten months I've been there, I have seen a high turn over in residents. Some residents have been kicked out, but the majority of the residents I've talked to feel as though they pay too much money a month to have to see and listen to kids from the moment they walk in from work to the moment they have to go to sleep. Might I say again, that most of them are unsupervised (even the ones in elementary school).
If you are planning on moving to Largo Center Apartments, my best advice to you will be to #1 - know that you are not coming into a complex where you're going to get a lot of peace and quiet. #2 - observe your surroundings at all times #3 - if you have any problems with a resident or what's going on in your building, write a letter to the management OR call the police.
Overall, I plan on staying in Largo Center for a while. I come from a very large family so the issues of noise and kids don't bother me as much as someone who needs some consistent peace & quiet. Even though it has its issues, I enjoy my wooded view from my apartment windows, the location, and the high interest within management to straighten out the obvious issues in order to make the complex a better living environment for ALL residents.
