Such a shame...

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
I am a current resident and find myself completely torn about Willowood Apartments. I love the area, community and the people here. The "staff" is friendly and always seems ready to assist. That being said, either its all a facade (which I don't think it is), the staff is terribly overworked (possible), or the management is completely apathetic to resident concerns (more likely).
My wife and I have lived here for a little over a year and will actively pursue other arrangements when our lease expires. The apartments and common areas are in good shape. The buildings are a little older but are overall in decent shape. You can hear some hallway noise if the people are speaking louder than normal but nothing serious. The community holds a picnic in summer which was nice. The grounds are well kept. Parking is plentiful. As you can tell, I am pretty satisfied with these aspects...
When we first signed up a year or so ago, it was a different property manager, who seemingly went above and beyond for us. She even met us outside of office hours to tour the apartment and sign a lease. Without completely bashing the current management, I will just say they do not meet the same expectations.
We had an issue with our boiler earlier this year where we did not have any hot water. It took me several calls and a week and half to get it resolved. I don't know about you but I think that a week and half without hot water is completely unacceptable. I have made several other less urgent maintenance requests which are ignored. I have to make at least 2-3 calls before someone comes out. I truly think that the message does not get relayed to the maintenance men because whenever I see them and they are aware of an issue, they go out of their way to mention the status of it. The only time I got a prompt response out of the the office was when I told them that our lease was almost expired and they had not provided us with a copy of the renewal that we requested numerous times. Somehow I got called and received renewal papers on my door the next day.
Overall if there are no problems with your apartment, you will love life at Willowood. The people in the community are great and friendly. But in my opinion, someone's true meddle is tested when a problem arises. In this area, Willowood fails miserably.
