I lived in this complex for 2 years. Numerous times I considered moving, however with financial and time limitations making things very difficult- I ended up deciding to just stay and put up with it as best I could. However I feel that other renters considering this complex have a right to know the conditions of these apartments.
No hot water for over a month, black mold, many things broken, laundry room machines either don't work and eat your money (which you never get back) or flood the entire laundry room when used (plan to wear waterproof boots anytime you do your laundry here). Apartment smelled HORRIBLY like smoke which came through the wall from the neighbors. Walls hadn't been painted in who knows how long, carpets were absolutely disgusting. Something wrong with the water pipes made the water a light redish, brown color and smell bad.
Landlords broke their lease commitments by cancelling promised included services (such as snow removal) in the middle of my lease. Landlords are nearly impossible to get ahold of- are very rarely on site, and ignore phone calls for weeks or months at a time. They (illegally) tried to raise rent costs for the entire complex- until they realized that not all their residents would let them get away with that. Landlords will outright lie to you when confronted about any of these issues, coming up with any excuse possible.
Are there any advantages to living here' Well, I'll be fair. It is a fairly quiet complex and it seems to be in a safe area convenient to both the Bangor Mall area and the University. Rarely problems with enough parking.
