This was my first time living in an apartment complex. I have rented from private land lords in Portland and the Orono area before and I was happier with the Junipers than I have been with any of my past land lords.

We didn t have much trouble breaking our lease. There was a waiting list and they were able to find someone to move in right away. The staff at the office was flexible through out the entire process.

The maintenance crew was incompetent. And the place was kind of a dump as a result. Lots of dog crap and cigarette butts around. The snow removal guy actually piled all the snow in our assigned spot. And the guys they hired to do shoveling would put waaaay too much sand down. Like a heaping shovel full on your door mat. So it was tough to keep your apartment clean. Also they came into our apartment with out notice on one occasion. But I have lived in worse.

The unit I lived in was nice. It was clean, the windows would seal tight (no drafts) and the heat worked very well. Unfortunately I could hear almost every step my upstairs neighbor took. But he wasn t around much, so it wasn t a big deal for me. The dish washer worked well enough. And the gym was descent too. A lot of these places advertise a gym and it turns out to be a treadmill in the back room. This gym had plenty of equipment, all of it in working order.

My overall impression is that the Junipers were a good temp place to live. But not something I am interested in making my long term residence.
