A great deal for Ann Arbor!

I've been living here for two years now and have not had too many problems. Sure the buildings are older and I have had minor bug problems (2-3 times in two years, not bad!) but as soon as you let the landlady know she will call pest control at no cost to you. Pest control will likely come the day after your landlady calls them, two days tops and the bug problem -is- solved!

Maintenance is great too. They're fast and come out the same day! I've never had to call twice regarding the same problem for the exception of the heat going out maybe 3-4 times, but as I said when you call for maintenance they will come out the same day.

As far as noise, it hasn't been so bad here. I've found that the foundation here seems to block out much if not virtually all of the noise from neighbors! If you are living in the building facing the street of course some noise is to be expected from traffic otherwise I'd say it's not bad considering the noise aspect.

Generally speaking, the apartments themselves here are pretty decent. The bedrooms are fair in size as well as the living room, however, I will note that the kitchen itself is pretty small. You will have to get a smaller table if you prefer to dine in the kitchen. I've also had an issue with the dishwasher -- It is NOT hooked into the wall. You will have to roll it towards the sink to plug it in and I've personally found that to be a pain as I have my table in the kitchen and as a result I had to get my dishwasher taken out. You will have to figure this one out for yourself though.

The a/c units here are older but they work fairly well. The only problem I had about it was the location. If you live in any of the first floor apartments your a/c unit will be located in the end bedroom. I live on a third floor now so my a/c unit is located in the living room. To clarify, only the FIRST floor a/c units are located in the end bedroom otherwise they are located in all second and third floor living rooms.

Since I've lived here, safety has not been a problem. It is very quiet day and night (unless of course you are living in the building facing the road you will hear some traffic.)

If you are a cat owner like I am, there is a $15 fee in addition to your rent. I'm not sure if dogs are allowed though so you will have to call to find out.

Lastly, my top reasons for moving in -- Location, transportation, shopping and price! The location is great -- Close to downtown, public schools and many stores to choose from. There are plenty of stores to go to by simply walking across the street! Transportation is great too! There are 3 bus routes which include 4, 7 and 22 so buses are frequently going by. The price, for me, is unbelievable considering all that I get which is currently $775 for a 2 bed, one bath. You won't find a much better deal for Ann Arbor!

All in all, I believe Arbor Hills Apartments is a great place to live for many reasons. Sure there are some minor problems but no place is perfect! I definitely get what I pay for!
