I have lived in Ann Arbor for 7 years. I lived in 4 different apartments before Arbor Landings. A flood and 2 break-ins (the management was not helpful in other complexes) led me to Arbor Landings and I have stayed for 4 years.
The complex may be expensive, but if you are not able to purchase a house or condo and can afford Arbor Landings, it is well worth it. I would choose the complex over most, if not all others. The complex accepts cats and dogs (big dogs too). Of course there is an extra fee for pets, but you will be lucky to find an apt in A2 that accepts pets, let alone one that doesn?t charge.
The complex has amenitites such as full washer/dryer inside apt, pool, hot tub, sauna, small workout room, billiard, tennis courts, small pond with walking track. Carports are free.
In addition to newer appliances-the complex is no more than 15 years old-the space in the one bedroom new section is quite ample. They don?t have extra storage but the walk-in closets have a lot of space.
As far as problems, the worst thing about the complex is the speed bumps. Location is not terribly far out of town-2 miles, and not much more than most other large complexes and close to the expressways and near movies and some shopping.
I would consider the place pretty safe. The complex is not a walk-through complex that gets foot traffic on the way to liquor stores, etc. Exterior lighting is not bad.
Maintenance has never been a problem. Given other rentals in the area and the turn around time for fixing issues, I consider the 1-2 day turn around for requests extraordinary.

Just as an update there is no longer a hot tub (there are in process of renovating the area) anda billiards table. Also the weight room is not 24 hours, 6:00 AM - 11:00 PM or so.
