I lived at Broadview apts for around 2 years and liked staying there. Though
there were some problems about which I have mentioned below but out of the available options near U-M's North campus, I think Broadview should be worth considering. Its definitely better than Willowtree Apts which is another option students usually consider for staying close to the U-M North Campus. The Broadview apartments are very spacious with a number of closets provided. There is also an extra storage provided outside the apt which can be used to keep all your junk stuff which is not required for regular use. The apartment provides a quiet surrounding and is ideal for students looking for quiet environs. The best thing I found abt the apt was the shuttle which they used to provide in Winter and it takes you to the North Campus and the Central Campus and back as well. The shuttle is free and saves you from trudging in winter-snow. The maintenace staff was very helpful and was very prompt in service. If you make a call in the morning, most likely the repairs would be done before evening. The leasing authorities also help you find a sublet if you ever feel the need of it.

The only problem Broadview has is the bugs about which other folks have also written in their reviews. If you call the leasing authorities, they do some spray etc. and the bugs used to go away for a few days but then they used to reappear. so u need to keep making calls else use your own insecticides. but the problem is not that so severe in winter.

The rent is a little towards the higher side but the apartment is spacious as well. Some apartments also come with 2-BR-2-Bath which makes it ideal to live with a room-mate. Broadview is at a walking distance to all the convenience stores, movie-rentals, Marco's Pizza, Wendy, Subway etc. which makes it ideal for people without a car or who want to grab a quick bite without going far.

I would not "strongly" recommend Broadview but I would definitely like you to consider it among your renting options which you have wrt to your budget. It may turn out to be the best among the worst!!
