Lived there in 2 seperate apartments for a total of 4 years. Decided to move after numerous neighbors were broken into, my car was broken into, and there was a shooting in the woods behind my building. Management never even sent around warnings or notices about the 20 cars that were broken into in one evening along, or the 7 apartments that were robbed in a 4hr period. This was all known from word of mouth of the tenants and neighbors. You'd think they would alert us!!!!! I don't know what McKinley is doing, but they certainly aren't concerned with the safety of their tenants. Our "security" door was constantly broken, leaving our building open to bums to sleep in and over "questionable" people mulling around. Can't they at least hire a security company to roam through at night, like other complexes in the area have? The crime has just skyrocketed, and yet they are spending money on renovating the hallways (wow, new paint and carpet on the stairs!!!!).

As for the apartments themselves, they are decent. You can hear noise, but that's expected. Our walls had huge spots where their maintenance guys apparently didn't know how to patch walls.. we're talking like 2'x2' spots where the spackling or whatever was all uneven. I just expected more from a place where I was paying hundreds more than the other complexes in the area. And the tennis courts, jeez, they couldn't even make the courts even or paint the lines correctly, after many attempts.

I know some of this seems petty, but I just expected more for what I was paying. McKinley tries to make it like they have this great complex... but be very weary of the escalation of crime and their lack of response.

""This was all known from word of mouth of the tenants and neighbors. You'd think they would alert us!!!!!"" This equals gossip. Check with the Pittsfield Police department on what is actually going on. It's not the management's responsibility to provide for your personal safety or that of your belongings.....it's in your lease. Your landlord can't be held liable unless found negligent. The Police should be the one's "roaming" through at night. What is a private security service going to do? Nothing but call the police. You can do that. What have you done to organize with your neighbors? Spreading gossip certainly isn't making things any better.
