I used that title because after reading the other "reviews" about this apartment complex, it's obvious to me that this is a extremely biased and (sorry to say) ignorant group of individuals. Anyone with any experience with apartment complexes SHOULD realize that, in general, quality increases linearly with price. Look at the price for a 3 BEDROOM APARTMENT ($899) with an extremely low security deposit ($174). It makes one wonder what these other reviewers were expecting. Anyone with a shred of intelligence would realize that this is not the most luxurious place to live. However, for low income families and single college students (like myself) it provides an ideal location. Less than 2 miles from major expressways (I-94 and US-23), and U of M and EMU are approximately equidistant from Evergreen. Now, again in complexes you aren't going to know who your neighbors are. One should realize and understand the consequences going in. If not, don't live in one. There are ample houses to be rented because of the 2 college campuses located nearby. I consider myself pretty lucky. My neighbors are relatively quiet and no more than 1 or 2 times have I had even a minor problem with noise (as that seems to be a big complaint with other reviewers). To rebut other reviews complaining about neighbors, instead of being indirect and complaining to the office, why not first make a reasonable attempt to confront the bothersome neighbor directly. Most people are reasonable and will be consciencious of you. Anyway, NO, the appliances aren't Kenmore or GE. But they work, and if they don't, maintenence works promptly to fix the problem. Our dishwasher was leaking the day we moved in (try even finding an apartment for $899 with a dishwasher). I put a complaint in and a day later it was fixed. Our faucet on our shower broke, the SAME DAY it was fixed. Now, to avoid being as biased as the other people posting on this site, there are problems with Evergreen. But think relatively here. Its $899 for a 3 bedroom apartment!!!! I dare you to find that price anywhere else in the greater ann arbor area, and that does not include Belleville or extreme eastern edges of Ypsilanti. Parking is crowded in areas. Good reason, for 899 evergreen doesn't have the money to afford parking permits. That, and other amenities come with a higher rent payment. The walls of the apartment and paint jobs are horrible, however the staff said that residents can do basically anything reasonable to their apartment with the approval of management ( I asked this myself). The carpet is old, but its not worn out. Bathrooms aren't huge but big enough. Management is certainly lacking, but it's owned by a corporation (McKinley). Much of their paperwork gets bogged down in transit between the local and the corporate office. Pay your rent on the 1st and you wont have a problem. All I'm trying to provide here is a reasonable, educated, unbiased opinion of Evergreen Pointe (now McKinley at Evergreen). You get $200 if you refer someone who signs a lease. And I haven't even mentioned that Evergreen PAYS for heat AND water bills. People who are disgusted with this place obviously didn't make an informed decision before renting. It was enormously easy to see just by observing the residents and cars in the parking lots while visiting that this isn't luxury. If you're on a tight budget and are willing to accept certain problems with neighbors that are prevalent in ANY apartment complex, then give Evergreen a look.
