Racist Sewage Filled Ghetto

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
This place was my worst nightmare. I was put in a particular building because of my race. When I first moved in, you could tell that they hadn't cleaned the apartment. There was broken glass and food crumbs all over the kitchen. The carpet was covered with pet hair.
While I was there I never felt safe. There were two fires in my building. Police were arresting drug dealers in the parking lot almost every night. I was attacked by a bunch of 8-14 year old kids in the parking lot who threw stones at me and wrenched my grocery bags out of my hands. Several men approached me in the parking lot asking for favors. For the first 6 months someone tried to open my door almost every night, usually between 3-5am.
I also had a lot of trouble with the office. Every month I would receive an eviction notce in the mail the day before my rent was due, even though I had already paid it. I would go to the office and they would insist I hadn't paid until I showed them my receipt and returned check. One month they took it too far. They cashed my check twice, once electronically and once with the paper check, and I still received an eviction notice. I went to the office and they told me to come back in several hours. Several hours later I was back and they told me to come back tomorrow. Eventually I took a day off work and waited at the office for several hours with proof from my bank that I had been double charged. The accounting guy ripped into me, but eventually agreed to not give my money back but to credit it to next month's rent. I had him put it into writing, but that next month I still received an eviction notice. I met with him again and he swore it never happened and I still needed to pay.
The worst thing that happend though was my appartment flooding with sewage - six times - from the floor drain of the laundry room accross and down the hall. The last and worst time was just a week before I was to move out. I came home from work to find half of my appartment and most of my belongings covered in raw sewage. I called the 24 hour maintenence number and didn't get anyone so I left a message. No one got back to me. The next morning I went to the office. They took my name but never did anything to help me move or clean it out. They even charged me for that last week in my lease where I could not live in my apartment.
