Great Apartments, Questionable Staff

Spent quite a long time going to various apartments in the area before desiding on Meadowbrooks. This place has a pretty ideal location, 5 minutes from downtown, but also far enough away to avoid some of the traffic (ok, it's still got a lot of traffic, but anyway), "secluded" area ...great apartment layout, I could keep going ... Once I decided on the place, we paid $100 "desposit", which went towards a credit check, etc with the understanding that this reserved us the apartment we wanted. As it turns out, they went on to rent the apartment we had just reserved, and offered us a different one (about 3 inches from I-94). We declined that offer and asked for other options. They then presented us with yet another apartment in a better location. We agreed, only to get a phone call hours later ... they has rented this apartment already also. At this point I felt like I had been conned with the classic bait-and-switch, and I began to make rumblings about demanding my $100 back. Under slight pressure, the staff did manage to "find" another acceptable apartment. Since then, I have had no issues with the apartment itself, but I am still dealing with the rather slow front office. Last month I received a bill and threat of eviction for a $100 screw on their part. I had to call four times to get through to someone. Yuck. The most amazing thing about the apartment, though, is that fact that the maintenance people are awesome. Awesome maintenance ... terrible front office ... hmmm, maybe they should switch ... just kidding.
Overall, the apartments themselves are great. Layout is nice, price is reasonable (at least for the area), location is great, parking is easy, maintenance is amazing ... it's just the front office. In all, once you get settled in, I think you'll find it worth it. Hopefully others won't have the same issues that I had.
