Be careful with the office staff

The management here is clearly more interested in attracting new residents than they are with keeping their current residents happy. When I was considering moving in here and made a couple trips to the office, the staff was friendly, courteous and very prompt with all of my requests. After I moved on, on several occasions I had gone into the office to pick up a package or put in a maintainence request only to be shooed away by the manager, who was always busy with a prospective resident. Maintainence is slow, I've had to put in my requests two or even three times before things are looked at. The windows (despite being new) are drafty and have led to very large utility bills. I found a small crack in my bedroom window, which they replaced and promptly charged me $80 for the replacement with no forewarning. The manager outright accused me of breaking it. Snow removal around the dumpsters doesn't happen, and whatever rate they give you at move in will not last the next year. They want to raise my rent by an additional $70 a month, and no incentive for renewal! In this economic climate I think that is highly ignorant and irresponsible.
Needless to say as soon as my lease is over, I am moving. I can easily get a condo with monthly payments less than what I am paying now, and without the hassle of the subpar management here. It is sad because it is a nice location and the apartments themselves are quite roomy with plenty of storage space. They are also very quiet as well. If it wasn't for the outrageous rental rates and the callous attitude of the management here I probably would stay.
