Very nice, but...

I've lived here just over a year, and it's mostly been wonderful. This is mostly nitpicky stuff, but the car break-in I really wanted to get out there. Also, since I don't think that many of these stellar reviews are planted to up the rating, I wanted to put something a little less glowing out there so people know all the good stuff really is true.

I like that it's by a park. The park construction not being done on schedule was kind of annoying, but not a big deal. In fact, that's one of the better things about this complex, that the street dead-ends into a park (especially a park just renovated; it's not going anywhere for a while). The street isn't a cut-through; that means whoever is driving down the street is a resident or visiting a resident (or the pizza guy). Very light traffic, very quiet. I don't count the freeway; it's not through-traffic, it's passing by on the other side of a hill. It's more like waves crashing on a shore after a while.

However, I've had a few problems with the furnace and A/C, requiring multiple visits from the maintenance crew before it was fixed correctly. But the office staff is always friendly and the maintenance staff arrives very quickly to address any problems. The landscaping crew cut down the flowers I had grown from seed, just when they were starting to bloom. In defense of the complex, though, the office did offer to reimburse me the cost of replacing them.

But the worst part is that my boyfriend's car was broken into and some of his things were stolen. His car was parked at the end of a building, not 20 feet from people, on the close edge of the visitor spots, and in view of my patio. Though the police didn't find anything, they did arrive quickly and even dusted the whole car for prints. I told the office about it, but never saw any notices posted. Makes me feel less safe, and also makes me wonder just how bad something has to be before a notice is put up.

I also got both Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses coming by my place multiple times, if that's a problem for anyone. That never happened at any other apartment I lived in, is why I mention it.

Overall, though, it is a great place to live, and though they're raising the rent this year (they said they hadn't raised it since 2003; wish I could verify that statement), it's just about the least expensive place in AA for what you get - relative quiet, 10 minutes from anything. I have the loft style one-bedroom, and I love it. They even let you paint if you want, and encourage you to "make the place your own". I looked at a lot of places before I moved here, and this was the best by far.
