Quiet, Cool, and Pricey

I've been at Parc Point for five years and I would consider it a good experience. The apartments are some of the nicest within walking distance of North campus. The apartments can be pricey for a 1 year lease, but the management offers a significant discount if you agree to renew your lease after the first year. The apartments are spacious and open with a clean feel. The grounds are well kept and the outward facing apartments all have forested views.
When I first arrived at Parc Point years ago, the staff was excellent. Management was helpful, quick, and generally pleasant to deal with. In the past two years or so, the quality has dropped. I feel that the old veteran manager left and was replaced by someone without much experience.
I can't say much about the maintenance crew, because I've never met them. If I leave a request in the morning, they've usually stopped by before I get home. For small requests (slow sink, weather stripping) they're usually done within the day. I usually get the impression that most of the repairs are 'patch' jobs rather than trying to completely fix the underlying problem. In my experience, larger requests can take a day or two longer than necessary. Rather than immediately calling a in an outside contractor for specialized problems (AC repair), maintenance will usually take a day or two to attempt fixing the problem on their own.
I've read the other reviews and the only real criticism I share with them is: insulation, both acoustic and thermal. I've been very lucky with noise, since my neighbors are very quiet. A few years back, there was a yippy dog in the apartment above me (which was against PP policy), but that was my only noise irritation in the past 5 years.
On the other hand, *thermal* insulation angers me to new levels every winter. I'm on the ground floor which means my apartment is *cooler* than the floors above me. Although my air conditioning bills may be lower during the summer, my monthly heating bills are $200 in the winter months for 60 degree rooms. After the first winter, I've had Parc Point stop by and check all of the window seals and weatherstripping at the begining of each winter. Despite this, the ground floor apartments can get cold in the winter even with the thermostat turned all the way up. The extra heating cost generally offsets the renewal discount, which leaves Parc Point as pricey, but not astronomical.
Advantages: Location, grounds, washer/dryer, quiet,
Disadvantages: Price, insulation

This sounds like someone that works for Parc Pointe Apartments. I've lived here for a total of 9 years (with leaving for 2 and coming back to U of M for grad school). The manager you speak of has been here (according to her) for over 20 years. She was always horrible and still is. I only live at Parc Pointe for the convience of North Campus!!! If your staff - learn to write a rating without sounding like an employee!!!!!!!

OP here. After two years, I forgot my password and had to create a new account.
I guess my original review does sound a little forced, I was just trying to state some of the positives along with the negatives. To answer the Response, no, I do not work for ParcPointe. I was a 7 year EE grad student, who graduated this past summer. I misspoke when I said the manager. I was referring to the administrative assistant who was always in, not the property manager who??s only in every third day or so. I apologize for violating the code of the internet and composing my thoughts before posting. In the future, I'll be sure to use stream-of-consciousness, repetitive punctuation, and improper your/you??re placement.
In the two years since the last review most of the things are still true, except the noise. My wife and I were just fortunate first couple years. This summer a group of four new guys students moved in above us and between the stereo and their heavy feet. Combined with the inability to to adequately heat our apartment, and my wife is near her wits end. Stress-wise my other complaints are mild. The replacement dishwasher isn??t as nice as the old model. The metal wall studs are on 24?? centers so I can??t mount my TV. On the plus side, when our water heater broke and flooded a five foot section of carpet, the management replaced all of the carpet rather than just the damaged section.
