Hard times at Ponds...

The Ponds at Georgetown is in steep decline. Not sure if there was a management change or what, but it started pleasant enough in '99, but by the time we left in '03 we were glad to escape.
It used to have a nice mix of tenants, students, grad students, older folks, young families... but as time went on it became more and more loaded with students. Loud students.
In general, the character of the tenants changed. Turnover soared- it started to seem like a residential hotel. The buildings got messier and messier. The maintenance was not responsive. We were getting surrounded with incredibly noisy neighbors that did not give a damn about other tenants.
The rent is excessive given the low quality of the buildings and infrastructure. We had repeated problems with heating and cooling. The garbage disposer rusted off the sink. The washer and dryer were marginal and repairs to them were stopgap.
It became clear that the apartment we occupied had been flooded out before we moved in and was inadequately repaired-- missing trim, crumbling wallboard.
The parking is limited and a problem if there were parties at the clubhouse.
Avoid.
