Average apts at average price'

I?m fairly happy with my 18 month stay here so far. The apartments are over 10 years old now but I think they had just fitted new carpets and repainted when I moved in. The carpets in some of the other apts I?ve visited don?t look so clean. I like the layout of the 2bed/2bath design and double patio/balcony. The 3rd floor with cathedral ceiling is also very nice.

The maintenance response is OK - usually within 2 days for non-urgent issues. Although, their response to a faulty gas fireplace solenoid problem was to hit it. It still doesn?t switch on/off reliably after a year.

The staff turnover has been quite high. I don?t really like the current management as they don?t seem that friendly. They don?t make any effort to organise social events. I?m sure there are lots of friendly and sociable people her who just need some INTERESTING and IMAGINATIVE events to meet. I hardly see any of my neighbours.

The clubhouse is a waste. Nobody uses it because there is nothing to do there. The fitness center has some very worn out equipment which needs replacing or repairing. With the amount of rent they?re collecting they should focus more on keeping their customers happy with better facilities and amenities. There are a lot of empty apts here and there will be more if they don?t improve. There are a lot of newer/nicer apts close by. I think $1095/mth is OK though. I would be looking to move if I wan?t relocating soon anyway. Originally my rent was 1075/mth and they wanted to increase it by about $150. Eventually they only increased it by $20 without any intervention from me. Very odd. I think the whole thing is negotiable but I didn?t bother.

[p.s. You can persuade them to sort your telephone wiring out if you?re persistent. The usual reason for them not working is that they?re connected to the cable provider. If you just want to use ameritech or whatever the maintenance people can reconnect it very simply but you have to hassle them]

UPDATE: JULY 2002

STAFF HAVE CHANGED. THEY SEEM TO BE BETTER AND MORE FRIENDLY THAN THE PREVIOUS LOT.
