Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2002
I moved into my 1000 sqft apartment in 2000. They were a great price. I started at $690 for the space. They even accomidated my need for early move in. However, when I did move in, there were and are alot of problems. My bathroom had one foot of of mold in the floor all around the bathtub and adjacent wall. After a month they fixed the two inch pool of water from every shower and finally replaced my floor but my windows all leaked in the rain and I still have moisture problems in my bathtroom they seem to refuse to fix. My kitchen stove is from 1960s when the complex was built. They wont replace it as of yet. The just had code inspections in Dec 2002 though so most places are getting ship shape. Drafts are in every apartment, air conditioning in the summer is expensive but heat is free (gas). Mostly because the buildings are setting poorly with cracks. I don?t appreciate the wall pack in my bedroom window either. The sun never sets. For the price they are decent, if you don?t think so then shop around into McKinley properties....ouch!
Loud neighbors is why I moved out of Downtown and the price, but when you live between two campuses you get them anyway. Overall I have had good cooperation from management on that. However I would recommend going straight to the management and skipping the leasing office. Most of the girls save a few could care less about your apartment problems or the rights you have as a tenant to request specific items. If you can afford it, venture someplace else. If you are looking for space with not a lot of cash, then spicetree is pretty good and relatively friendly but expect the neighbors to be noisy and maintenance to be slow, especially in the winter. And did you know...they used to have a tennis court...what happened to that'
