I lived at Spicetree for a year, before recently moving closer to work. If it weren't for the drive to work, I would have moved into one of the Patio Units when it came time to renew my lease.
The apartment is very close to Ann Arbor, but you get Ypsilanti pricing, which was a BIG plus for me. I was able to take the bus to U of M every day. The neighbors threw the occasional loud weekend party, but it WAS the weekend and I'm not unsympathetic to the college life, so it didn't really bother me. Groundskeeping was always well kept, but usually done at **7 in the morning**, with lawnmowers right by my bedroom window every Wednesday. Again, it didn't really bother me much, since I usually had to go to work by then. Maintenance was quick and efficient, the few times I needed to call them. There's a nice Chinese buffet and a great Bistro Bar across the street ;)
Really my only complaint - though it is a big one - was the electrical wiring in my apartment. The power went out almost once every week - usually in the middle of the day when I was gone, but I would come home to blinking clocks. Brownouts or blackouts in the middle of the night were not entirely uncommon either, and it actually fried my nice set of computer speakers. I'm lucky that's all it affected. The electrical wiring and the cable service did not have a common ground, so there was always interference with the TV's picture quality (even with digital cable).
Overall, I'm pretty easy-going and enjoyed my stay at Spicetree; Like I said, I'd renew my lease there, if it wasn't for the driving distance to my new job. The unit I had (2br) was VERY spacious, and conveniently placed on the ground floor. Parking was always ample. People kept to themselves and were friendly. Rent was cheap. The garbage dumpster was a little far away, for my tastes, and made taking the trash out an excessive chore.
