My husband and I were only going to be in Ann Arbor for a year and wanted a place that wasn't near campus and like the rest of the really crappy student housing but was also affordable (which is hard to do in Ann Arbor!) I'm so glad we found this place. I was afraid at first, since it is very close to some of the "rougher" areas, but honestly it seems like all of the rough areas are over the bridge that goes over I-94, the neighborhood around Spruce Knob is great. There is a school across the street and the adjacent neighborhoods are great for taking your dogs on a walk or for a leisurely run.

We have a one bedroom and yes, I guess you could say it's on the small side but it's perfect for what we need. Our heating bills have been low and it's nice having the door to the outside be locked and having a somewhat warmer hallway outside your door. We live on the first floor and have left our lawn chairs, small grill, and other items on our porch area and none have ever been stolen. Everyone that lives here is very friendly too, and quiet...I've never heard anyone having a crazy party or anything. It's older but everything we have is updated, our appliances work, there is good water pressure...don't need much else :).

As for the guy who wrote earlier about the loud dogs barking, I apologize for that because mine contribute sometimes. It's really not bad though (and I'm not just saying that because mine do it). There's tons of squirrels outside and dogs will be dogs. I have noticed the poop problem though in the warmer months when the snow is gone, I wish people would have a little more class and just pick it up and put it in the trash. All the dogs I've met around here though are nice and not aggressive.

I really have had no contact with the staff here except when we signed the lease. They seem nice enough but again, we've had no problems. The sidewalks are cleaned off after a large snow each time although I wish they'd clear the parking lots a little better. In the summer the grass is cut regularly and the landscape looks nice. They also have people who vacuum the inside of the stairwell area every week too which is nice. It does suck that you don't have a washer and dryer and although they have a laundry room for each group of units, they just raised the price and I must have bad luck, because it always seems to be used by someone else when I want to use it. It's better than nothing I guess.

Overall I'd recommend this place. I actually checked these ratings before deciding to live here and I'm glad I followed other people's advice and decided to come here. You won't be disappointed, especially with such a good price.

A 4 for noise, even though your own dogs bark? A 4 for grounds even though you admit there's a poop problem? (And let's not forget that the sidewalks become "golden corridors" when snow falls.) A 4 for office staff, even though you've never dealt with them? I've tried to get them to fix something 5 times now, and they haven't moved on it. I don't know how you came up with a 5 overall for this place; I'm suspicious.
