I lived in the Highlands for two years during my undergrad years. My entire experience was superb and exceeded my expectations. The management staff does everything in their power to make sure your experience at the Highlands is fantastic. The maintenance staff is also excellent and very friendly. I never had a problem with my apartment aside from a lightbulb that went out, but the maintenance staff replaced it within an hour. The staff are very professional, yet very friendly as well. They're genuinely interested to hear how your family, school, work, etc. is going. In the winter time, the staff cleared the sidewalks and parking lot very early in the morning which made walking to class or driving to work very easy. As for the apartments, they are very safe, clean, and spacious. When moving in, the apartments are absolutely immaculate; the walls are freshly painted and the carpet is professionally cleaned. The apartments have central air that keeps the units efficiently cool and warm throughout all of the seasons. Finally, all of the neighbors are very friendly and respectful. The pool, basketball courts, and BBQ's add a wonderful facet to the Highlands which make it a wonderful place to call home.
