Apartments aging, too many dogs.

After a demoralizing three years at Ponds of Georgetown [avoid], I stumbled across Traver Knoll.

The apartments are sturdy, 50's vintage- new complexes always seem so flimsy- but these apartments were built to last. Extremely well maintained. Quiet. Excellent location. Pretty grounds, lots of wildlife- you feel that you are more in the country than in Ann Arbor.

However, there was a management change in 2005. They did a lot of very disruptive renovations. The basements were torn apart and repainted- and not well. Not sure what work was done, other than new ceilings in the basement and new paint on the floors. I think drains were replaced. Unfortunately the grounds took quite a hit because of the construction. It is proving difficult- after being here for FIVE years- to get the management to do some needed work on our apartment. When people move out the apartments are renovated- but those of us you stay are seemingly punished. Kitchen floor coming up. Bathtub is rusting out. GFI's in bathroom and kitchen.

But the most problematic change is the very loose policy on dogs. There appears to be no limits on dogs- size or number. Don't get me wrong- I like dogs... but with no limits- you cannot count on people having any common sense about it. So there are very large dogs bellowing at you from apartments as you walk by. Or in the case of an apartment adjacent to ours- two non-small dogs- with separation anxiety. So, we get to enjoy incessant barking every time our neighbor is gone.

I don't exactly understand why people feel the need to stuff their apartment with dogs and then not be around.
