Nice place to live

From: Panther00

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2003

I?ve moved into these apartments in the middle of October in one of those 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms apartment. I have read all the horrible reviews on this forum before signing the lease and I dont regret my desicion of signing the lease.

Utilities: In last two months my water bill was $30-35, electric-gas was close to $100 combined, I run heat 24x7. Thats pretty much the same as I was paying in my last apartments. Keep in mind that its my third apartment in Ann Arbor in last 5 years. Almost all the places charge you for the water, and I have paid anywhere from $15 to $35 per month.

Garbage: Yes there is only one trash compactor in the apartment complex and its near the entrance so I just put the garbage bag on top of my car?s trunk and dump it on my way to the office. I have seen the garbage place overflowing 2-3 times and mostly on Sundays, but it doesnt stay that way for long. I like this one-place-away-from-you-own-door garbage system cuz in my last apartment there were dumpsters all over the place and made the whole place a big mess. Well, its totally personal preference.

Staff: well, all of my problems were fixed within 24 hours of reporting. Staff was pretty good to me. There was only one problem that I faced, my patio is facing north and I wanted to install the dish but I couldn?t because the dish has to face south and should near your patio (somthing like that), what I am trying to say that dish is not allowed in every apartment and mine was not compatible with the dish.

Bugs: I have a corner apartment with trees on the side, back and front, its all covered with trees, and the lake is right in front of my apartment, and I see bugs only occasionally. I dont know about the summer.

What else...

Traffic: Dixboro-Geddes is a busy intersection with one lane all four ways. Traffic is pretty much random and it takes longer to pass this intersection during office hours but thats what you will have to deal with if you are living on the east side of Ann Arbor. On average it takes me 15-20 minutes to reach City hall during office hours.

Entrance/Gates: Yeah they charge you $50 for the access card. This access card is to access the main gates as well as club house during late hours. Gates doesnt work and they told me that it will start to work pretty soon and it didnt in last two month. This cant change my dicision anyway cuz its pretty peaceful area to live. btw these $50 are refundable at the end of the lease period.

You can rent the clubhouse for $13 or $15 per hour (I dont remember exactly) and it comes with TV lounge and pool table. Also they offer guest suites within the apartment property. I didnt have a chance to rent the suites yet but its something nice to have if your inlaws are visiting from out of town and you dont wanna put them in a motel :)

A lot of people will disagree with me and its everybody?s right to form an opinion but so far my experience is pretty good.

Again these are my experiences and my opinions and I DONT WORK FOR THEM :)

Overall, I?d say its nice place to live.
