Village Green of Ann Arbor

I recently moved in the VG and I love it! I feel the need to help vindicate Vg from all the bad reviews that soem people have left here. If you think about it 90% of the people that access a site like this are here only because they wish to vent. Most people who like where they live don't feel the need to rate.
To address some of the complaints as follows.... the exterior condition of the buildings. Yes some buildings do look better than others but there are 40 buildings in this complex and I see people out everyday working on replacing ALL the bad wood and siding and painting it all over. Having working in that industry before I'm not upset that they haven't reached my building yet. It takes a long time to prep and repair large buildings such as ours. First you have to replace the wood then scrape the old paint off, sand where it needs it, prime it, and then finally put the first coat of paint on. Not to mention it's completely dependent on the weather conditions as well. So as long as they are out there every day making progress, and they are, I can't complain.
Another thing is the gates. I will admit that the left entrance gate sometimes gets stuck but 8 out of ten nights both gates are down at around 10pm every night.
I also find the staff very helpfula nd very nice. When we first moved in our move in date was pushed back because our leasing agent didn't think the apartment was market ready and needed new carpet. My boyfriend and I went by the apartment just to see if we could get in and it was unlocked. The carpet we saw we thought was the new carpet looked fine except for a couple yellow staines along the trim. Aparently that was the old carpet and we were ordered new in two days and then moved in. The carpet looks great! it just goes to show that the staff is looking out for you.
I know this is getting long so to quickly highlight all the good things that have happened to us: they took 2 months rent off our 12 month lease, the hot tub and pool are great, they have access to computers if you do not have the luxury of having one in your own home and a way to print things off,the club house is always clean and full of life, they have social events every saturday for the residents that includes things like margaritas and appetizers and cookouts (yes it's ALL free!), are willing to make excepts to large breed dogs based on temprament, etc. I think you would be crazy to pass this place up while looking in ann arbor.
