Expensive for the quality...

The apartment community is in a very nice location close to the freeway but offset from the hustle and bustle of life and traffic.
The grounds aren't very well maintained: the outsides of the apartments look rather ratty for being as new as they are. The wood beams holding up the awnings above nearly all of the porches look deteriorated, and there are apartments that have had some of the decorative wood replaced on their awnings but never painted (it looks really tacky). Many of the outside flood lights are that nasty orange color. The exercise room could use some upgrading and a new coat of paint, though the pool is exquisite and very well maintained.
Parking isn't a problem if you don't mind walking a block to your apartment. There's usually plenty of spaces open, but half of the apartments (including mine) are located on the backside of the buildings, hence you have to walk all the way around to the front of the building to get to your car. It makes it a pain to give people directions to your apartment. It's also not much better even when parking in your assigned covered parking spot.
The maintenance staff is friendly, though it can take quite a while to get their attention at times. Our covered parking structure was without lights for nearly a month and only a couple of days after my third call to maintenance did it finally get fixed. I've called more than once about the wood of my front door rotting right around the lock (the screws fall out) and nothing has been done - if I didn't feel so safe about the location, I'd be relentlessly calling maintenance about it.
The interior of the apartments themselves are very nice. The floorplans are spacious, the closets are huge, and the interior is well maintained. The mini washer/dryer would be a godsend if only it wouldn't take 2 hours to wash and dry a load of three jeans.
Overall, I could live with many of these facets if only the rent was less expensive. I don't recommend living here if you can help it, but unfortunately with the run-down appearance and quality of most of the other apartment complexes in the area, this could be it. The bottom line is: when you rent at Windemere Park, you're paying for the location and not much else.

All those awnings (which were ugly) have been replaced. The buildings looks great now.
