A good place to live

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2007
We are in Windemere for our third year, and are leaving this summer because of school - otherwise I think we would stay. We have been happy here - it's quiet and well-managed. The maintenance staff is really great - we have had a couple of times that it took more than a day for them to get out here (not on emergencies), but when they come, they are always friendly and very helpful. The rest of the staff is adequate, but nothing special. It's sometimes pretty hard to get in touch with the manager. The complex is near a really nice nature preserve that we like to hike through, and the area of town is quiet and safe.
A few small complaints: our rent has gone up every year! The second year, we asked them not to raise it, so they didn't, but this year it got raised again. Also, one of the bedrooms (we're in the "Wedgewood" model) is always cold in the winter, while the other one is too hot. Third, we are in a downstairs apartment, and we can hear alot of our upstairs neighbors' stomping! When they go up the stairs, we can hear it very clearly, and if they walk heavily upstairs, it's pretty bad, too. However, this wasn't as much of a problem the first year, when we had different neighbors - so maybe our current neighbors are just heavy-footed. :) Last, you can only put 60 watt bulbs in all the light fixtures because otherwise they burn out right away, so it's hard to make the apartment feel well-lit, especially in the winter.
Again, those are all small complaints.
The complex is pretty nicely kept - the porticoes on the buildings looked pretty run-down when we moved in, but they are starting construction to replace all of those, and the new ones look really nice. I do wish our place had grass in front of it - it's all mud and rocks, and has been for three years. Also, the bush by our entrance is half dead. But overall, the complex looks okay. We have a free covered parking space, although we rarely use it because there are always open spaces right in front of our place. We have never had trouble with parking - that is a great plus for this complex.
The rooms are nicely sized, and the closets are amazing - I have been spoiled with the storage space. You could almost use a closet for a small office or something - they really are big. There's no pantry, but we use the under-stairs storage for that.
One big complaint that I just thought of: the company Windemere hires to do its landscaping during spring, summer, and fall is awful! They are out every other day doing something with loud equipment, and they don't seem to work very fast, so often I will spend a whole morning having to listen to their noise, or else keep the windows closed. Also, they come up on your porch to blow off dirt, etc., but a few times when our patio door was open, they have blown dirt INTO our apartment. You would think it would be one bad day a week, but it certainly seems to be more than that. They are a huge disturbance, and probably the worst part of living here. That's not really Windemere's fault, I guess, but I think they should hire a better company.
So that's it - a long review to say that other than a couple things, basically we've been really happy here and I would recommend the complex.
