Overall it was a great experience at Windemere. I have listed out pros and cons here, although to me the cons were trivial. I would have continued my lease here but I am moving closer to work.
My DTE bill (for heat and electricity) ranged from $50 in spring/fall to $100 in extreme winter/extreme summer.

Pros:
1. I liked the open layout of the apartment with 2BR and 2 bath (one on each side) and huge walk-in closets, ample storage space and in-unit washer dryer. It was great to share with a roommate.

2. The apartment was bright with lot of daylight coming in. The living room blinds were able to make the living room really dark.

3. The staff was very friendly and helpful. While I never had to call for an emergency, I did call the staff for bathroom fixture, door lock, dishwasher lock, pest control, and they fixed it within a day or max 2 days.

4. People around were mostly young professionals or graduate students or young families. It was generally quiet, I dont remember hearing any noisy parties.

5. The grounds (lawns, ponds and winter snow-plowing) are well maintained. The gym, pool and tennis court are decent.

6. It was a safe place to live in. I never had any safety/security related problem.

Cons:
1. I did get some roly poly bugs in one of the rooms (which was on the outer side, next to a tree) around March 2008. I did not have this problem in 2007. Management sent in their pest control guy and the bugs did die out eventually, although I dont know if that was their natural life cycle or if the pest control thing worked.

2. The room on the outer side of the unit used to be really cold in winter for obvious reasons - its on the outside, there is nothing next to it.

3. The bedrooms' blinds were not able to make the room dark during the day. You would need to use your own creativity to make it darker if you would like.

4. You can hear people upstairs moving around their house during quieter hours (early am or late pm).

5. They did have some construction (renovation of parking lots and internal roads and some units), but the disruption was minimal.
