Decent units, several condescending staff members, fitness center is a joke

PROSPECTIVE TENANTS:
BE SURE THE STAFF SPELLS EVERYTHING OUT PRECISELY IN THE LEASE AND GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING!!!
The lease fails to outline many details!!!
The manager and several of the lease officers then bring out a VERY rude and haughty tone when you discuss this. At one point it nearly took pursuing legal avenues to convince the staff of errors. It's not that they aren't competent, they just use a cookie-cutter lease that nobody bothers to read before handing out to the tenants.
Though they do have a nice pool area, it's only open for 3 months per year. Even if the weather is nice they open it at the end of May and close the end of August. The fitness center was the most haphazard unsafe facility I've ever seen (machines broken, weights with broken handles, etc). Actually it took until a tenant severely injured themself before the staff decided to do anything.
Concerning the apartments themselves, they are nice enough. Nothing special. Though I did have a consistent bug problem, where odd little dead caterpillars would show up on the stairway every few days. I never bothered to call maintenance because I never cared.

If you were having a consistent bug problem, the maintenance can take care of that. It is not fair to put that you had a bug problem as a grievance when you didn't notify staff about it. They are very picky about insect infestations and take care of it immediately. As far as your lease being not what you expected, perhaps it's because you, yourself, did not read the lease thoroughly. I've read my lease several times now and it is very clear what is expected of me as a tenant-- one thing being notifying the staff of any issues in the apartment (i.e. consistent bug problem).
