I lived in Windemere while I was in graduate school. I thought that this place was a great place to live for graduate and professional students because it is in a nice part of Ann Arbor (nice neighborhoods, walking paths, park) and it was quiet enough for studying. I visited other apartments within 3 miles of Windemere and I felt that they were too noisy, not well kept, did not have a very nice staff, and overpriced for what they were. Windemere is not all that more expensive than the other apartments around and I think that it has sooo much more to offer. The new fitness facility is great! It was worth the wait while it was being renovated. I enjoyed relaxing at the pool in the summer, it was vrey clean and never too crowded. There is A LOT of parking! Each apartment gets its own carport (included in rent) and then you and your guests are permitted to park elsewhere on the premises. In the winter I used my carport and when the weather was nicer I just parked right in front of my apartment.
As for the apartment itself, I really liked it. I had a one bedroom and found that the bedroom itself was huge! There is a coat closet in the entrance hall, a larger storage closet, and a huge walk-in closet in the bedroom. There was not a linen closet, but the bedroom closet was so large that there was plenty of room to put linens in that. Bathroom was average size with adequate closet space. I really liked the fireplace as well, especially in the winter. Good size patio, liked the sliding glass door as it brought a lot of sunlight into my apartment. Not a lot of counter space in the kitchen, but I thought that there were plenty of cabinets. My stove was pretty outdated (still worked well), but I think that my apartment was one of the few apartments with a stove like this because my neighbors had newer stoves. It was also incredibly convenient to have a nice washer and dryer in the unit.
I felt very safe here. Maintenance only made 1 or 2 visits to my apartment and they were very prompt and got the job done. Noise was minimal and I never had a problem with any bugs. The staff was great! I found them very helpful and very nice. I noticed that some of those who have been writing reviews have been complaining about the notice to vacate that they "did not know about." When I signed my lease, this was the first thing that the staff brought to my attention. They told me about it, they have it in bold letters on the lease itself, and they even sent me a reminder for when my notice to vacate would have to be turned in to the office.
Overall, I really liked Windemere. It's nice, clean, and in a nice area. If I didn't have to move, I would have stayed at Windemere. It was a great place to call home!
