Overall - good place to live

I'm currently living in these apartments and have been in here since November. I looked at a LOT of places in the area and ultimately chose these apartments b/c the price was very competative, plus they include heat and water. There is plenty of parking. There is a fitness room which looks very nice. The layout (I am in a "studio" - which is nothing like a studio really - large bedroom is separate from rest of living quarters) is really nice and open - far from cookie cutter. For older buildings, it was very clean and looked well-kept and outside security doors were fully functioning/close on their own (no chance of someone w/out a key getting in). The area is very convenient - 75/59/OCC/OU/Great Lakes Crossing/downtown Rochester - all w/in minutes.
As far as the heating/cooling issues - I'm on the top floor, so maybe that has something to do w/it - but my apt has been comfortably warm through the whole winter. I kept my heat on a very low setting which was plenty. It warms up very quickly as well. Also, when I open my windows to let fresh air in, it cools down quickly too - good air flow.
Before I moved, as I was telling people where I was going (AuburnHillsApts) a few different people kind of warned me of being careful of the area. I don't know why. The area itself is fine. It does NOT look slummy. It is NOT too close to Pontiac. I enjoy living in Auburn Hills very much. However, I would strongly recommend just always keeping your guard up - esp if you're a single female living on your own. It is, essentially, a college-age town and the apts are cheap which sometimes draws unsavory individuals. I also say this b/c my friend had their car broken into in my parking lot. This obviously has nothing to do with the apartment complex - and 100% to do with some low-life chicken s*** individual scouting out high end stereos to steal in the middle of the night. But I think it's pertinent to mention. I've personally never felt threatened or scared living here. The parking areas are well lit, the outside doors are secure, and I see officers in the area in a semi-regular basis (the police & fire stations are literally 3 minutes away).
To echo what others have said, management is very friendly and helpful. My maintenance issues have always been taken care of w/in 24 hours and they also have Emergency maintenace available for after hours/weekends.
Overall, I really enjoy living here so far and, unless circumstances change or something, have every intention of staying after my year lease is up.
