This place was a great place to live up until a couple years ago. I have lived there since 97 and loved it up until my neighborhood turned ghetto.
I am on Countryside Court and ended up where all the 3 bedrooms are which is fine but, I got stuck in an area where there is a bunch of kids running around, yelling & leaving their toys & garbage all around. The worst is when the ice-cream truck comes around, it looks like a tornado hit afterwards. And these are older kids that should know better! The leasing center did lower their standards so my sub looks worse then a sub in southwest Detroit. The past two summers I have seen Auburn Hills police in my sub alomst twice a week for something. The pools also don't open till middle of June and they close them down early. There is 2 pools & with a ton of kids that live there they only open one pool at a time. Which is stupid I think. The pool is small to begin with so I don't even bother going anymore. They can't even provide lawn chairs or tables because they would get stolen or trashed.
As far as the updates, they have been updating and cleaning up the exteriors quite a bit, not much inside but, whenever I needed a new stove or fridge I got one. And after so many years I got new carpet and paint. They have recently put in glass block windows in the basement, all new siding was done last year & new mailboxes and now I got new bushes & a new porch. HOWEVER, yes they do raise the rent every year about $35. Mine has been increased twice a year now for the past 3 years. I love my place on the inside and now I am raising my 3 year old there but, I have been desperately trying to get out of there for a year now. I want out so bad that I am considering a one bedroom somewhere. I am really trying to buy our first home though. As far as renting there I would do it again, I would just be very picky about what kind of people are around & definitely not recommend the court I lived in. Some of the workers there even know how bad it is and they call it the toilet.
Oh & yes Cheryl, the landlord is very nice but, Judy is a big B! There is no other way to put it! She is rude and unprofessional & since she has been there there has been more openings than ever. I remember years ago there was over a one year waiting list to get in, now tons of vacancies. Oh and I wouldn't recommend the daycare on site either. It's not owned by Countryside but, it's right in the complex and it's a dump.
