My girlfriend and I lived at Lake Village of Auburn Hills for a year and a half beginning in early 2008, and we actually had a really good experience with them. The Good:
The Whole leasing staff was excellent to work with, and really made us feel at home. The apartment was in great shape when we moved in, very clean, freshly painted, new carpet (even if it was a little on the cheap side.) Neighbors were reasonably quiet, and very nice and polite. Of course we were bothered by noise once in a while, but its an apartment, I never thought it got excessive. We loved the clubhouse, great pool, and workout facility was the best i've ever had access too. Maintenence always responded to us within a day and issues were fixed immediately.Overall, it felt like a very safe, clean, secure place to us.

The Not So good:
Parking is an issue, there aren't nearly enough spaces, which is why we got a garage early in our stay. Snow removal is less than stellar too. You will often find ice on the sidewalks everywhere except directly in front of the apartments. Dog poop is quite common too, although this can't really be blamed on the management as it is individual tenents who don't clean up after their dogs. At least management provides bags for tenents use.

We moved out after our lease was up because I had gotten a new job in ohio. I was concerned before our move-out because I had read reviews on this site that talked about the management company screwing you over when you leave. Our dog had torn a fairly large hole in the carpet before we left, so i was worried that I would be charged a huge amount with that as an excuse. I got my final statement, and they had only taken $40 out of our deposit to cover the repair, which I considered perfectly resonable. We got all the rest of our deposit back.
Anyway, pretty good experience overall, one disclaimer, We dealt mostly with the management company before americon (however you spell it) so our good experience may be different now with them, although they were the ones that returned almost our whole deposit and didn't hassle us over the floor.
