We moved here from out of state, not knowing battle creek at all. If I would have known this neighborhood, I would never have signed a lease. Cheap rent- yes, good place - no! We have a unit a few doors down with high, high, I mean high traffic in and out. My assumption is drugs because of the people we see go to and fro. I have had at least 1 maintenance call every month many for recurring problems. I have to be careful of what and when I bring my belongings into my home, for fear that someone will see what I just purchased and break into my home to steal it. Not the warm fuzzy feeling you want to have, eh' The leasing agent and the maintenance guys are really nice and I have no problems with them, they are doing their job. But it is obvious that the owners do not want to make this place any better. All they have to do is not renew the slum tenants leases and only lease to good ones. Not a hard concept... anyways, please do not rent here unless you are a drug dealer or a person with very, very low living standards who doesn't mind hearing gun shots to celebrate new years eve (true). Oh and the schools nearby are not ones that I or anyone I know would want their kids in, EVER!
Learn from my mistake, DO NOT RENT SOMEWHERE JUST BECAUSE THE RENT IS LOWER AND YOU GET A BASEMENT. IT IS NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like I have neglected my children just by living here.
